[ Mao starts to give a smart reply then stops; it's his turn to remember. Retrospec is so generous that way. It's just a small thing, almost more of a feeling than a real memory, but it takes the wind right out of his sails, making him snort softly and shake his head. ]

I just remembered something, that's all. I was hardly able to practice leading up to that performance so I didn't even get to play an instrument in the end which means you were for sure better than me.
[ Mao sighs because admitting that sucks almost more than remembering it in the first place but it makes sense that some of them would just be more talented than others. Of course he'd be at the lower end of that scale. ]
I don't remember playing anything any other time and this seemed like a special occasion. It's no big deal, though, I don't think instruments were really what we were there for anyway.
